I wonder how many remember the custom of ‘bringing in the summer’?The idea is that you rise early,gather as much greenery and blossom that you can and display it indoors in vases/jugs/jam jars whatever you have to hand.My Dad,(William H)who so many of you knew and loved so well made a huge point of this when we were children.No matter how much work he had to do on May 1st ,he always made time to get out and bring in a huge armful of fresh greens.I shall never forget it and always remember this custom every May day.its not done in UK ,certainly not in my area,but then summer does not officially begin here until June.Does anyone still carry out this custom or can they remember previous generations doing it?
