Matthew O’Shea impresses
The Glengarriff U12 team hosted Oliver Plunkett’s in the South West league on Monday night, April 12, and had a com- fortable win. The selectors took the opportunity to give all the players on the panel a game, as is the norm in the Glengarriff club when games are one-sided from early on. Panel: Jamie O’Brien, Paudie McCarthy, James Murphy, Fergal O’Sulli- van, Thomas O’Donovan, Tony Harrington, Paidi O’Sullivan, Darragh McElhinney, Donagh Harrington, George Goff, Tadhg McCarthy, Shane Lyne, Amy Harrington, Tracey Murphy, James Harrington, Cathal O’Sullivan, Mary Hilda Hurley. On Wednesday April 14, Glengarriff clubman Matthew O’Shea was a member of the Cork minor football team which defeated Clare by 1-9 to 0-9 in the first round of the Munster minor football championship, which was played at Cusack Park in Ennis. The Rebels trailed by a point with two minutes remaining, but had the last four scores of the game to end up three-point winners. Matthew played at left half back, where he had an outstanding game and saw off a number of different opponents before being moved to the full back line, where he continued to impress. A large number of Glengarriff people and family members travelled to support Matthew and they were rewarded with a fine display from him.
