Work is continuing on the Garinish 100 project. The commemorative brochure will be available this week and the street banners and signage will be in place shortly. Agreement has been reached with Failte Ireland regarding the TIO to stage an exhibition dealing with the development of the island. In this regard any old photographs or such which could be used in the exhibition, or indeed the project generally, will be welcome. The Garinish 100 pages will feature prominently also in the newly revamped website www.glengarriff.ie. Despite the cutbacksin public funding evident in all sectors, the committee has secured grant aid from Failte Ireland to be used in the promo- tion of the event both regionally and nationally. Part of the pro gramme also will be a series of talks on topics related to the island, look out for these beginning in July. Running in tandem with the local efforts, the OPW are working on their Centenary Garden on the island with a completion date for June. More details on all of these exciting events will be available in due course.
